Tracey Whorton began playing drums at age 11 in her hometown of Moundsville, WV, aspiring to join the rock band KISS. After realizing that the band didn't really need the services of little girl drummers and suffering great disappointment, she decided to continue her education and in 1987 graduated from John Marshall High School.
College bound, she then enrolled at West Virginia University — for what seemed like years. In 1993 she somehow escaped the university with most of her personal belongings and Bachelors Degrees in Music and English. Though she has vague memories of her time at the university, she seems to remember marching in WVU's snare line for two years (1987-1988), touring with the Cadets of Bergen County Drum and Bugle Corps (1989), and performing in many university ensembles including Percussion 90, Steel Express, and the African Drum and Dance Ensemble.
Now residing in Pittsburgh, she is also a steelpan teacher at Northside Urban Pathways Charter School in downtown Pittsburgh and freelance percussionist frequently seen with Sputzy and the Soul Providers. She spends her free time trying to use her mind for good instead of evil, and making short films about her beloved cat, Templeton.
