Mr. William L. Riffle

William L. Riffle is the Director of the Marching Band, Concert Band, Pep Band and Jazz Band, as well as the Middle School Concert Band, at South Allegheny High School. He has been teaching at South Allegheny for 37 years — 17 years as assistant director and 20 years as the director.
Mr. Riffle is an alumnus of Duquesne University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education. He also has done graduate work at Duquesne University and Penn State University, and has been recognized for 25 years teaching by the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association.
His hobbies include bicycling and tennis. He is married to his wife Barbara, and they have a daughter, Michelle, who is a senior at Duquesne University majoring in flute performance.
Mr. Riffle will end this tenure at South Allegheny and retire at the end of this school year. He has no firm plans other than to do some traveling and ride his bicycle a lot more. He definitely plans on checking in with the band from time to time to see how they are doing. He also plans on starting a Facebook account after he retires so he can keep in contact with former students and band parents.
