Asthma Inhaler Policy

In accordance with the South Allegheny School District's Asthma Inhaler policy, students are permitted carry their own short-acting metered inhaler.

A student who uses an Asthma Inhaler must have their parent/guardian complete a signed asthma action plan and complete and sign a student self-administration form. Both forms MUST be on record in the MS/HS Nurse's office.

Forms will be available in both the high school nurse's office and the high school bandroom.

Students are never permitted to share their inhalers with others.

You are responsible for bringing your own inhaler.

If you need one, and have a medically prescribed inhaler, BRING IT!

Since you never know when an asthma attack will be triggered, be sure to bring it to EVERY Band rehearsal and function.

Make sure that you are very familiar with the correct usage of your inhaler. Follow the instructions for your particular inhaler.

As with all medical problems, if you are having a problem, alert Ms. Humanic, Ms. Kadar or another adult instructor or chaperone as soon as possible.
