Fund-raising is both an opportunity and a chore.
The philosophy of fundraising is that each band student will be given a sufficient opportunity to raise all of the funds necessary for him/her to participate in the mandatory Band Trip.
Students are NOT required to participate in fundraisers. They always have the right to pay outright the cost the band trip.
Each student will be told in advance what percentage profit per item/fundraiser they can expect (typically 40% or higher) and they will also be able to track their accumulating fundraising totals on a posted Master List.
Most fundraisers are ones that have been proven to be successful, easy to execute and offer a higher percentage of profit.
Fundraisers are always posted in the band room and this web site. All pertinent information concerning the fundraisers is included in this information. Order forms are located on the counter in front of the bulletin board and online.
Order forms and money are due on the posted day of each fundraiser by 8 A.M. Orders turned in after this time will not be accepted.
Parents and students are NOT PERMITTED to deal directly with the fundraiser vendors! Failure to adhere to this policy will nullify your right to participate in any future fundraising activities with the band.
Some of the Band Parents fundraisers, such as the lottery-style ticket sales, will not put profits into individual students accounts but rather will be distributed throughout the entire band.
Sometimes specific fundraisers are targeted for specific items, such as a previous years tag day to purchase winter raincoats, etc.
Typically, there will be more fundraising opportunities in a trip year than in a non-trip year.
The annual schedule for fundraisers is usually set during the summer at the Band Parent meetings. All parents are encouraged to participate in this decision making process.
In the rare case where a student leaves the band with an outstanding bill from fundraisers, the School District freezes the student's records and will not release or transfer any record until all debts have been satisfied. This includes graduation diplomas and related transcripts for seniors.
A few years ago the Band Parents adopted a new set of By-Laws, specifically the By-Laws that refer to fund raising state:
All fundraising activities will be under the jurisdiction of the Band Parents and these By-Laws. Those parents whose students do participate in fund raising MUST follow these rules.
